Oui, Oui, Paris!
To Dine Cafe Menilmontant 143, Bld Menilmontant 75011 Paris
Discovering this restaurant was pure coincidence.
It was a freezing december evening ( no, I didn’t made that up to make the story more romantic ; Believe me, it wasn’t) and we were looking for a place to eat. After
dissaproving almost every restaurant ( too crowdy, too empty, too much drug
cover-up looking) we decided to enter the next restaurant we’d ran in to.
No matter what criminal activities took place there.
The next restaurant was Cafe Menilmontant. A half actually,
because they were rebuilding the place.
I don’t know if it was the wine, the checkered tabel cloth
or the typically Parisian women sitting next to us but we had the best evening
ever. And the best dinner ever.
So last year I went back. I showed the waiter/owner my
receipt from that december (2009)( this is a stupid thing I do, making notes about every
city I go to) and told him I wanted to have the exact same things. He was so proud I kept the receipt and
started hugging me (!). That night I ate the exact same entrecote and drank the
exact same wine.. and again I had the perfect dinner.
So If I ever had to recommend a restaurant in Paris it would
be Cafe Menilmontant purely based on my “receipt”.

La Pagode 57 bis rue de babylone
It was build by the manager of the department store Bon Marche for his wife on the land next to their house, a real pagoda in a lavish Japanese style used as as ballroom. Now it's a small cinema. I will spare you all the details, just promise me to go there. It's just to lovely.

This is just one of the best stores in the world. Unexplainably beautiful.
It’s located in a majestic, sun-lit loft where you can browse from room to room just like in a real house. Stop and look through an old-fashioned trunk spilling over with unique creations and finally find that little dress nobody else has yet to wear! Don’t forget to buy a tiny bunch of roses at the flower shop, and cuddle up on a sofa in the book corner as you check out the latest literary sensation and sip a well-earned lemonade. You’re not going to believe this, but you’ll be raising money! The profits the store makes on your purchases are donated to charities!

I thought everybody knew laduree but last year I surprised my friends with this cute bakery famous for their macarons!
If you go to one, DON'T go to the Champs Elysees but to Bonaparte. No tourists, so you can keep up your act like a Parisian ;-)

It's because I love Paris and I want to tell you everything about all the "secret" places, away from the Champs Elysees, away from all the tourists..
